The easiest method: select a fader, copy, paste. Make sure you have
"Protect Cabling/Positions" unchecked in the View menu of the
window.
now select the new fader, and in the parameter pane (left side of
window) change the Cha parameter to "Track 17" (18, 19, etc).
Or: press Option while picking New from the File menu. Logic will
create a song that's _not_ based on your Autoload, and will create
every possible Audio object (mixer strip). Now just select the Audio
objects you need, copy, open your Autoload (just press Cmd-N), and
paste the copied objects in the Audio Mixer.
If there's no Track 17 and up available: go to Audio Hardware &
Drivers (main menu: Audio) and change the "Max number of Audio
Tracks" for your audio driver. You might have to relaunch Logic for
the changes to take effect.

After a long absence from the world of midi and making music on a
computer, I recently picked up Logic 6, Reason and an M-Audio 410
interface. After a big initial "huh!" I think I have at least a
basic
understanding of how Logic works... that environment thing really took
me for a loop.
WIth at least the "basics" going so far, and a workable
"Autoload" file
created, loaded in some old midi files, and recorded some midi and
audio tracks. Now, I have come up with a few questions that I am hoping
some folks here can help me out with.
I had no problem setting up Reason via "Rewire." However, I find
that I
would like to skip the Reason mixer, and just have one "virtual"
mixer
in logic. I understand how to cable the Reason instrument to an
individual output and route that to a fader in Logic. Problem is that
most instruments I am dealing with have stereo outs, which end up on
two separate Logic faders.
How can I get this operate as one stereo fader in Logic? (I have some
ideas, but want to do it the best way)
I picked up Reason simply because of the "virtual instrument
rack." In
playing around with Logic, I am noticed the EXS 24 sampler demo. While
is doesn't seem to have as wide a selection of instruments (is this a
limit of the demo?), I liked the piano and some other sounds. Also
like the way it is integrated into Logic - very easy to use.
I am mainly interested in "traditional" sounds - piano, bass,
guitar,
drums, strings, etc. Would the exs24 be considered a "must have"
or is
reason enough? Is the sample list in the demo all that is included? If
so, is there much of reasonable quality available on the net for free?
(I know that there are tons of samples available for purchase, but the
budget doesn't allow.)
Well, that should be enough for now. I am trying a RTFM approach to
answer most of my other questions. As that fails (what a whacky manual)
I will probably return with more questions.
Any other beginner tips or tricks are most welcome.
