Hi,
the PCI324 is not compatible with OS-X, you need the PCI-424, this card and
your old 2408 is compatible with OS-x and of course with logic 6

Just get the driver on www.motu.com ; it's free.

reboot
In Logic configure the audio hardware ;o)

actually PCI 324 *seems* to be compatible, but doesn't work reliable
with OSX and G4. I had frequent kernelpanics until I upgraded to
PCI-424.
Didn't have any MOTU-related problems since then...

Be aware that the PCI-324 only works in a limited sense under OSX,
even with the proper drivers. Motu has dropped Cue-Mix support for
the 324 under OSX, so you can no longer do latency free monitoring
of incoming signals with the 324. I know this for a fact - I could
not get Cue-Mix to work with the 324, tore my hair out for a couple
of days looking for dumbo mistakes, and then finally discussed the
problem with Motu tech support, who told me about them dropping cue-
mix support. For me, the only solution was to upgrade to a 424.

Thanks a lot for your help. I Did install the new driver and reboot. Still
not working. At the audio "hardware and driver" doens't show the
option
"ASIO" on the bottom, as it use to be before. It only shows "
VS" and "VS
Type". the driver it's available as PCI-324 on top.(should it be
PCI-324
internal?) It seems i'm doing right but still not working...thanks in
advance.

I don't have "kernel panic" because I sync from the PCI or the
1296.
It is know that there is a bug for external sync, not internal sync.

We know since a year that the Cuemix is not handle with the 324.
If you use Logic audio, you just need to create the inputs objects and you
have a cue mix.
If you have latency problems : When you record you reduce a your buffer
size, when you mix or use midi you increase your buffer size
I Have a 424 on my G5, it is GREAT it does worth the 295 $
But you can live with the 324 under OS X on a G4. (must not sync by external
sources, the Motu system must be the MASTER , it is easy to slave
peripherals to the Motu using the world clock, I have a PCI 324 that is
syncs a Presonus, a Lexicon and a TC-helicon)
The draw back of the 424 is that Logic cannot control the cue-mix, so either
you use the Cue-mix or you use the input objects. Also you cannot insert a
plug-in. You must use external effects.
I just hope they improve the interface of the cuemix because It is not very
nice the way they handle the inserts and/or a Dolby configuration, also it
will be nice to be able to increase the display window to have more fader
displayed ( I have 54 ins ;o))))))))))

Which OS do you use, Jaguar or Panther?
My system (below) is extremely unstable in OS 10.2.6 and I've gone
back to working in OS 9. I do want to move forward. I've been reading
the LUG messages. Is the thing to do - upgrade to Jaguar, get the RAM
over a gig and buy the PCI-424 card? Any comments?
Thanks.

a few days ago I updated to Panther, I have 1 GB Ram and yes, it's
working fine here (with PCI-424)

Have all the external sync issues been eliminated with the 424?

Thanks for your reply. What else do you use in your system? - audio
cars, Mac MHz, etc.

I use a MDD 2x867 (the one with the vacuumcleaner inside...) and since
I installed the PCI-424 I can't even remember what a Kernelpanic is ;-)
I have no other PCI-cards installed.
...and no, I don't use cars, even no audiocar, I go almost everywhere
with my bicycle... (sorry, couldn't resist)
