Subject: How do I A/B the recorded mix to the original tracks?
Message #153176
In DP I can seamlessly toggle between the recorded mix and the actual tracks by soloing and and unsoloing the mixed audio. In Logic when I try this there is always a second or so of audio overlap and midi overhang/catch-up etc. Is there any seamless way to a/b the mix to the actual tracks in Logic? -tia

Use the SOLO on the actual mixer objects, not the one in the Arrange. It is instant. You'll need to toggle the mixed track's object between unmute/solo (to hear only it) and mute/unsolo (to hear only everything else). Takes a couple of mouse clicks. f-erenc szabo, smarty pants Z+E+R+O+B+E+A+T "NOW POWERED BY THE MIRACLE OF THE TRANSISTOR!"

The best way to do this in Logic is to set your Audio objects to output to a Bus, not directly to the master. Set your raw tracks to output to Bus 32 (for example), and your mix track to output to Bus 31. Set both those Bus objects to output to your main outs. Then option-click the solo button on the appropriate Bus object for instantaneous exclusive solo. You can do this in the Environment Audio layer, or add the Busses to the Arrange and use the Track Mixer. In general, there are all sorts of good reasons for using Busses as your Audio object outputs rather than going directly to the outputs. It allows things like easy A/B comparisons, easy rerouting of the mix to different outputs, multing to several pairs of outputs, bulk-soloing/muting/processing different things (audio, instruments, inputs, etc).
