Hello there Logicians,
I recently changed my soundcard without finishing a couple of old mixes.
When I
open up the unfinished songs with the new sound card I have to change the
device
setting from the old card to the new one in the audio mixer. When I do this
I
lose all my fader, eq, and plugin settings. Does anyone know of a way to
copy all of
those settings from the old mixer and paste them into the new one? Importing
the
environment layer doesn't work because it also imports the device(soundcard)
setting.
I'm using Logic 5.5 in OSX 10.2.8 Thanks for any replies.

If memory serves me (I'm not near a Logic machine right now), when you
open your old song in logic, with ONLY the NEW audio-driver enabled,
logic will give you a pop-up dialogue that goes something like "convert
song to new audio-driver/object?". When you click yes, all your plugs
should be there with your old settings.
At least that's the way it worked for me when I switched cards some
time ago.
Cheers,
Arvid.

Hi Arvid, unfortunately Logic didn't give me that option. Strangely the old
card(Sonorus Studio) was still selected even though it is no longer in the
computer. It
makes me wonder if the soundcard has some kind of memory of its own. If I
reinstall
the card will my settings be available again, or because I have taken it out
will it's
memory (assuming it has some) be wiped out. Hmmm, Jon

Jon,
This won't help you with fader levels (not sure?) but it will copy all of
the
plugins and their accompanying settings as well as the state of all of your
aux
sends.
Open your old song. Go to the "Audio Configuration" window. In
"view" select
your old driver and do a "copy" command. Now open your new song
making
sure your new driver is enabled. Go to the Audio Confitguration window
again. Select your new driver. Do a "Paste" command.
That should do it.

Hi Jon,
I don't quite understand this... Have you literally tried to open a new
logic song, and deselect your sonurus driver. Select your new driver,
reboot logic. Open your old song. The dialogue should be there, or
there's something going on which is above me...
Good luck!
