Subject: ASIO-MAC switching?
Message #153148
I'm on Logic 5.3.1, OS9, TiBook 550. I'm using some VSTs: Attack, Claw, Cheeze Machine. In my studio, I have a MOTU 828, so my environment objects are set up for ASIO, and in "Audio Hardware and Preferences" ASIO is my preferred driver. I would think that I could monitor recorded audio and softsynth output easily via my laptop's headphone Jack when I'm at home. However, it's a several-step process: change all objects' driver, switch the hardware preference, and THEN I have to start dealing with the plug-ins that seem not to work correctly. Has anybody else grappled with this with a similar setup, had the same problems, and triumphed? I don't wanna buy an 828 for home if I don't have to!! Thanks all.

You should have an ASIO driver for the Apple Sound Manager somewhere on your system - at least I have always had one as long as I can remember... Make sure there's one in the ASIO drivers folder within your Emagic folder. > I would think that I could monitor recorded audio and softsynth output easily > via my laptop's headphone Jack when I'm at home. No need to change the individual settings. Go to Audio > Audio Hardware & Drivers window, and select 'Apple Sound Manager' as your ASIO driver/device. A dialog will pop-up, and you can choose relaunch to reset the driver. I have a 550 tibook and logic 6.3.1 on OS9, and I switch between my US428 and the tibook's phones jack a couple of times daily, without a hitch. All my plugs and synths work no probs.
