I'm trying to figure out the best way to sample-rate convert an entire song
which
includes virtual instruments, plug-ins, and audio files. Having a hard time
getting
Logic to put the sample-rate converted audio files back in the right
relationship to the
other tracks... after converting the audio files, the regions are
time-shifted
slightly. What a mess!
Any ideas?

I don't really know HOW you have been doing it but....if you go into the
audio window and select all then select copy/convert , select different
sr.....then after it's done with all the calculatuions it will ask you if
you wanna change all references......then u answer yes.....is this how you
have done it ? If not...give it a try....I have never had any problems what
so ever with it.

I would not use the SR conversion in Logic because AFAIK they use
linear interpolation which is not very good quality. The best way
to do this process is probably to use BarbaBatch (www.audioease.com)
to convert the files first. Barbabatch uses a much higher quality
algorithm for SR conversion (there is a comparison chart on their
webpage, btw)
Once converted, remove the old referenced files from your drives. Set
Logic to run at your new sample rate, then open the song in question.
If you've renamed your converted files exactly the same as the old
ones, everything will work fine. Otherwise you can manually point to
each new file as Logic prompts you to do so.
