Subject: [LAW] applying effects to external audio
Message #153049
Hi, This has probably been answered earlier but I can't find it in the old messages (cant even figure out how to search the whole archive for that matter): I would like to apply logic and/or vst effecs within Logic Gold for Windows 5 to an external audio input signal (my expensive external synthesizer)in such a way that there is a track in the arrange window I can mute/unmute (I don't suppose it is possible to let such an "input" track work the way a normal audioinstrumnt works, meaning that it only works when selected or played back?) As far as I know the only object in the mixer that you can assign an input to in logic gold is the aux strip. In this strip I can then choose effects, and these then do work on the external audio, but how do I assign a track to this object? Well, if anyone has an idea, about what I am rambling on about, please let me know. Thanks in advance, Danny Boomsma

I suppose you could also assign the mixer strip to an Arrange track, etc... Never tried, but don't see why this wouldn't work. >how do I assign a track to this object? Select the mixer strip and in the parameter pane (left side of the environment window) make sure the 'Icon' checkbox is checked. Now the object will appear in the instrument list that pops up when click-holding on a trackname in Arrange. Or: select the target Arrange track, go to the Environment window (Audio mixer) and pick the midi-plug tool, then click on the mixer strip of your choice to assign it to the currently selected Arrange track.
