And with that gracious opening from Stephan Garr, I thought I'd start
the year with a bit of shameless promotion. ;)
I had mentioned it in an offhand way a couple of times before I knew
for sure it was available Online at places like Amazon. But now it is
readily available, so I'd like to readily admit--
I did manage to write a book on Logic, published by Muska & Lipman,
called _Logic 6 Power!_ (part of their "Power!" series of audio
books).
It is available direct from them:
http://www.muskalipman.com/ptr_detail.cfm?
group=Music%20Technology&subcat=Audio%2FMIDI%20Recording%20and%20Product
ion&bf=0&isbn=1%2D59200%2D128%2D9
Or a couple of dollars cheaper from Amazon:

qid72894376/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/103-4457894-7903827?v=glance&s=books
And likely other sites as well.
I wrote this book to serve two main purposes. First, to demystify the
architecture of Logic and hopefully allow newer and intermediate users
to understand the "Logic" (pun intended) behind the way the
program
works. Secondly, and perhaps most importantly, this book is designed
to be the "missing manual" and to serve as a reference book for
those
unhappy with the explanations, descriptions, organization, screenshots,
indexing, etc. in the included manual. Considering that the Logic 6
consolidated manual is 1300 pages, and my book 450, of course this
isn't as all encompassing, but I tried to cover everything that is used
regularly as completely and informatively as I could.
It was also important to me to make this as useful to real users as
possible, so in addition to a comprehensive index of the book, I also
wrote a complete Appendix that is a cross-reference of my descriptions
for every command on every local menu. Not only does this sort of
information simply not exist in the Logic manual, but I tried to make
it readily accessible and easy-to-navigate, so that advanced users who
don't necessarily need a primer on Logic's use and concepts can still
benefit from it as a reference book when needed.
Also, for advanced users, there are tips and tricks, not just from me,
but from some real power users (many of whom are on the LUG) such as
Don Gunn, George Leger III, and Len Sasso, and others.
Len Sasso, by the way, does not only contribute some tips, but served
as the technical editor for my book as well! Since Len is far too
classy to engage in the sort of shameless promotion I am, I'd also like
to mention that Len has a fantastic 175 page compendium of Logic
techniques out as well, called _Emagic Logic Tips and Tricks_,
available from Amazon also:

qid72894376/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/103-4457894-7903827?v=glance&s=books
I think his book makes a perfect companion to mine: _Logic 6 Power!_ as
the comprehensive reference, _Emagic Logic Tips and Tricks_ as a
concise book of practical tips.
Anyway, if any of you are interested in expanding your Logic library,
there you go. And of course be sure to tell absolutely everyone you
know who might be interested! :)
Thanks,
Orren

Are there any sample pages available anywhere? I have to admit I rarely
buy books sight-unseen, and unfortunately my local Barnes & Noble and
Borders rarely stock anything to do with Logic (one of the B&N stores
has one copy of Len's book on the shelf, and I was so shocked to see it
there... for example, they regularly carry all the Apple Pro training
books *except* the Logic one, sigh...)
