I have hundreds of song arrangements backed up. Is there a way to
search thru all these files and find ones with a certain bpm? I dont
want to have to open them each up in logic to check the bpm. The bpm
must be encoded in some way in the file...anyone here know how?

Certainly, how else would Logic know which tempo to play ;o)
Still it's a tough call, since were not dealing with one tempo, but with a
whole
tempo list with possibly hundreds of entries. Oh, and while we're at it,
make
that *nine* lists, since that's what's really inside the file.
When churning out sketches or song fragments it's good practice to note the
tempo somewhere in the title, and if not before, *now* you know why.

I know this is an issue which a lot of people on this list have reported
suffering from (the phenomena where you click on one part of the Logic
interface, and a point 1/2 a centimetre below is actually activated).
I've been battling with this situation ever since I installed Logic under OS
X, and into Panther, and it continues. I have tried trashing preferences,
reinstalling from scratch and sifting through plugins to see if they are
causing the problem. Here's what I've found so far:
1. Reinstalling can sometimes solve the problem. I reinstalled 10.3.1
a couple of weeks ago, and despite being a major PITA the problem did
disappear for a couple of days. Unfortunately it then returned for no
apparent reason.
2. Trashing preferences does not seem to make a difference here. I've
trashed every single file with 'Logic' or 'Emagic' in the title in the
preferences folder and even rebuilt my key commands (in case it was somehow
corrupt) and it made absolutely no difference.
3. Plugins undoubtedly play a part in this problem. So far, the main
culprits I have identified are GRM Tools Volume II and Native Instruments
Intakt. I have the latest versions in each case and I can reliably
reproduce the GUI issue if these plugs are in my Components folder, and
reliably work without these issues if they're removed. Strangely I can use
these plugins without the GUI issue on occasion after a reinstall, but
usually the problem returns. Also, if I add the GRM Tools plugins (or
rather the VST/AU adapter versions) back into the Components folder, even
removing them doesn't always solve the problem. Sometimes I need to remove
the entire folder, and then rebuild it without the GRM plugs to get rid of
the GUI issue (!!).
Bottom line, Logic clearly doesn't like certain plugins and I am contacting
both of these manufacturers to let them know the problem. NI should be able
to resolve it, but I suspect GRM will blame the wrapper VST/AU technology
and I can't really blame FXPansion for the problem.
I also can't help feeling that Emagic might be able to help solve this
problem if they were able to tweak the interface a little, especially as so
many people suffer with it. Again though, I don't hold out much hope.
Perhaps others who are able to track the problem to specific plugins could
post any results here, so at least we have a centralized database of plugins
which may be at fault.
Hope this helps somebody out there!

Thanks for posting this here. I hope that you'll be able to sort out
all of your problems. I haven't suffered these myself so I can't
relate (I switched last year to Mac). Sorry that your switch to the
Mac hasn't been very smooth. Hopefully, they get straightened out
soon. Once you get things working properly, you'll find that the Mac
is great to work in.
Good luck,

I've found that just hitting the number of the screenset you're using (i.e.
1 for arrange page, 3 for score or whatever you have assigned) forces a
re-draw of the screen and corrects the problem.

SEE DETAILS BELOW - APOLOGIES FOR THE LONG QUOTE BUT THE DETAILS ARE ALL
PERTINENT
I have now received confirmation from Native Instruments that they have been
informed by Emagic it will be fixed in the next update of Logic. I guess it
was a Logic issue all along.
It would have been nice if somebody from Emagic could have chimed in to let
us all know that it was an acknowledged issue. It could have saved many of
us hours of time trying to pin down the cause of the problem.

I am experiencing the same problem of offset GUI..but on
system 9 not 10 so reinstaling Panther won't help.
By the way, does anyone have certain VST plugs disappear ?
They are in the correct VST plug folder, but some of them (often
shareware or demos) do NOT appear form inside Logic.
