I-m a long time LAM user and have lived happily with my 9.2.2 on my ageing
G3. So I just upgraded to the G5 2x2Ghz with Panther and installed the
latest
Logic (6.3.2). To avoid so much trouble as possible I tested the system with
only Emagic hardware (amt8 and emi 26). My dissapointment were quite
huge discovering the system is almost usless to me for now...
1 The audio starts crackling after a while. Restart the core audio helps,
but
only for some minutes .
2 MIDI / Audio timing is horrible! Recording a MIDI click as audio produces
flams. I remember this with some early versions of LAM but thats a long time
ago!
3 The recorded audio doesnt line up right graphically in the arrange window.
The quantized MIDI seems (visually) to fall almost an 32nd note early!
The above results came when I started working on a new project at 48kHz.
The emi 26 uses digital sync as I have an external AD/DA.
Are there any other brave persons out there who have tried an updated
system like this - with better results ;-).
Regards
Frode

Did you set System Preferences->Energy Saver->Options to Highest
instead of the default (automatic)?

Yes I did, also tried 44.1 and a few other adjustments - nothing seems to
help.

Hi, i have same midi time problem ans someone told me that is a osx problem
for all audio-midi sequencers but i've installed DP4.11 also and it have not
this problem, so i think is a Logic bug.
Daniele
Th e bug i've mentioned is so: if you set your audio card to 512 samples
your audio
tracks will play back with a delay of 512 samples, the midi tracks are in
time, the
audio tracks no. Audio card set to 1024 samples means audio play back of
1024
samples. i hope emagic will solves tooooo soon.

fwiw...i tested this by recording a midi drum beat, then digitizing it,
and playing them both back together. they played perfectly on top of
one another. could your problem lye in your audio interface? note:
i'm recording with a 1224 and a 2408mkII. dual 1ghz 48k/24 bit. os
10.3.1.
hope this helps,

I made some trial last week (a Panterized G5 2X2, Motu PCI
424+24i+1296+2048MKII), depending of the buffer size set in the audio driver
pref I got the sample before and after the position they where played.
VERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRY strange !

I have a similar problem. I've just started using Logic 6.3.1 on a G4 933Mhz
w/
Panther. The MIDI click is a mess -- almost every time I record the click
cuts out or
stutters. No solution yet.
<Admin - we have stopped using the [LAM] label, as announced here:

I'm having the same problems. It's not just an offset, the timing
goes faster and slower. Is it anything to do with journalling file
systems? Where is the AMT I used to know and love?
Anyone having any success with this?
dual 2 gig G5, logic 6.3.3, OSX 10.3.2, performance - maximum, AMT8,
USB midi driver 1.5.
Cheers
