Hi all! What I'm really wanting to do is control a bus send on an
audio object by an external midi controller. The manual(v.4) lists
controller numbers that should affect bus send, but they don't
seem to be doing anything, even if I toggle the "software
instruments use midi controllers as midi controllers" thing in
midi settings.
So, based on a faq I found in the files, I'm thinking that maybe I
can use a transformer in the environment, and that maybe the
"fader" setting does this. I am further encouraged with my initial
experimenting, as I was able to activate the solo light with my
pitch wheel, by transforming pitch bend to fader 1. Fader 2
seems to change the patch on my EXS24, to another unrelated
instrument. Can't get anything else to happen.
Anyway: Anyone know of any info regarding all this, or any info on
this "fader" status function in the environment transformer?
Thank you!! Darcy
Hi,
I can control faders of the Audio objects with "fader" messages as
well as with "controller" messages (CC #7 for volume). I suggest
you
use monitors to see what you are transmitting.
Furthermore, "Sound on Sound" magazine has some excellent articles
by Len Sasso available for free on their web page. Just go to
soundonsound.com and search for "logic notes". There is an article
called "automation" or something like that, which explains your
problem.
Regards,
Dennis

Download 'autodemo.zip' from the Logic section of my website -- it's
4 songs demonstrating how to use an external faderpack to control
Logic objects _and_ how to record the external fader moves as
track-automation.

Hendrik,
Thanks for your response. I downloaded the file, unzipped it, but
couldn't get my logic 5/os 9 to see the .lso files in the open
dialog box. I think the sound on sound article will answer my
questions anyway.
Thanks again! Darcy

Use the File > Import menu-item, instead of File > Open. Then resave
under the same name to properly type the files as Logic songs.
