Hendrik, that´s really the point where I was thinking about, how do you have to ask to get a quick reply... > like "how do I go about doing this and that". Knowing this group, > you'll probably get a helpful reply within 24 hours. OTOH, writing > messages like "this and that can't be done and it's a BUG" will only > make you look foolish, and will not gain you any sympathy from fellow > LUGgers. Because I asked few days ago regarding Audio Inputs, and mentioned that maybe I was doing something wrong (and I have read the manual ;-)... but nothing is mentioned in that chapter). But no chance (if I missed a reply, sorry and thank you!!). And now, if someone is screaming "bug, bug, bug!!", there are enough "Logic disciples" to defend their .favourite programs, it seems to me... Nevertheless, to make this mail slightly useful: the solution for that problem (provided by Emagic - first time I got an answer of them, :-))great!) was to turn on Software Monitoring. But an interesting point: if SM is not turned on, the fader (in bottom position) and the mute button control the _hardware monitoring_ - the Gadget Labs 824 has an option to monitor each Input directly to the corresponding Output, managed by a small controll panel, and this function is done by the program. Ok, just my 2c... Hartmut

This is a reply to #151234.

There's not a "proper way", or a way that guarantees an answer. Things that help are (obviously) 1) being polite, 2) not writing 6 pages that no-one wants to read, 3) describing your problem as clearly as possible, 4) including relevant info (Logic version, platform, other hardware involved if relevant, etc). Bad question: can u tell me why i dont here sound if i hit the play button? is their a solution? (lack of punctuation, spelling errors, etc intentional) Good question: I have a Digi 001 and Logic 6 on a Mac G4/800 with OS 9.2.2 and the latest Digi drivers. If I insert an audiofile on an Arrange track assigned to Audio-1 and hit play, no sound comes out, even though the Audio-1 and Output object meters show there's a signal. What could be causing this? >Because I asked few days ago regarding Audio Inputs, and mentioned that >maybe I was doing something wrong (and I have read the manual ;-)... >but nothingis mentioned in that chapter). >But no chance (if I missed a reply, sorry and thank you!!). Maybe no-one knew the answer. Or maybe the 2 people that did know the answer have missed your post, or they didn't have time to read the LUG this week, or... I've posted enough questions myself that didn't get answered -- probably because the subject was too obscure and no-one knew. >And now, if someone is screaming "bug, bug, bug!!", there are enough "Logic >disciples" to defend their .favourite programs, it seems to me... No, I don't defend anything. First of all, Logic is not my favourite program. I like it, and it's imo basically a good program, but even in the recent past I've written plenty about my frustrations with long-standing bug, shortcomings, and Emagic's apparent tendency to go for the whiz-bang features instead of stability and reliability. I do object however to people complaining about things that are pilot-error instead of program-bugs. Not because I feel the need to defend Logic or Emagic, but simply because I find the attitude silly and non-professional. If I complain about a bug, at least I make damned sure it *is* a genuine bug before writing a post to a 12,00-people group. And if I'm not 100% sure, I'll phrase things as a question instead of a complaint, like "If I do X, Y happens. This seems to be a bug, unless I'm missing something.
