Question, is there a way to automatically arm midi tracks so that
you don't have to click (R) on every track before playing??? Thanks
to all.

Uh, what ? That's exactly how if works at the moment. You don't
have to arm MIDI tracks, they're in record all the time. Use
Record if you know you're gonna play something good and use
Capture Last Take when you know you have played something
good.

I use Ctrl-* all the time (Capture last take).
Select a track, start play, play your midi notes and press Ctrl-* when
you want to keep what you played. Try it.

Not exactly.. If I open a song and press the play button, all of the
midi sounds are incorrect. I have to click on (R) once which turns
the button red and then click on the (R) again to turn it off. After
going through this process on each used channel only then will the
correct sounds play.

That's a completely different problem altogether. Choosing the correct
sounds is not at all related to a track's arm status.

You don't. Selecting the *track* by *any* means will suffice, as it's the
selecting act that re-sends any set PrgCha's .
You are basically doing by hand what the Send Used Instruments Settings
preference does automatically.

Actually, I wish there were a way to turn this behavior OFF!
Or at least some sort of feature akin to the Solo Lock: "Record
Lock".

I agree. This comes up most often when I am running Logic while someone
else is playing. In my quest for efficiency I am often tempted to try to
edit
other tracks while a part is being played or recorded.. and of course I have
to
be very careful not to select another track or suddenly I get a dirty look
from
the person playing ; )
I do wish we could lock in a record track so we could have more freedom to
do other things simultaneously. Anyone else bothered by this? I've been
bitching to emagic about it for years.
