Ciao,
I am experiencing a problem with the "Adjust Object Length to
Locators" command.
With some audio files or regions, the command does not properly
time-stretch the audio.
Generally, it's off only by a few ticks (which still is a matter of
concern where timing is an issue); at other times, it's off by as
much as a beat or even a measure!
Is there some hidden arcane key to proper use of this command which I
am missing?
Or are the audio files suffering from anorexia, in that an
inappropriate body image causes them to misperceive their own size?
Are they just lying?
Or is this a conspiracy against dance music?
Thank you for any insight.
Cheers,

Ciao,
Is there any reason why Logic would be unable to recognize
environment files to import?
These are lso files downloaded from various places on-line.
When using the Import Environment: Layer command in the Environment
window sub-menu, the relevant files appear greyed out (unselectable)
in the resultant dialogue box.
In the past (OS 9 with earlier versions of Logic 6), I was able to
import these files without trouble.
Any suggestions welcome.
System:
OS X.3.1 Panther
Logic 6.3.2
Thank you...

Import the complete song (File > Import), then resave to properly
'type' them as Logic songs. Then use the environment>import layer
stuff. No idea if this works, but worth a shot.

Hi,
Is it possible the environments are too large? I've run into this
with several things I tried to bring in from Logic 4.8.1 to LAP 5.x
and 6.x - it's weird that they would have worked for you in earlier
versions of 6 - strange indeed.

Ciao,
Thanks to all for suggestions.
I just figured out an approach that works.
I used a file type/creator utility to set the file attributes
properly. No idea how those were lost; to all appearances, the files
were proper Logic files.
In my case, I used a groovy little utility called FileType (available
from http://www.frederikseiffert.de/filetype/ and undoubtedly many
other sites; other similar utilities exist by the dozens) to set the
codes as follows:
Creator: EMAG
Type: EM3F
Now Logic properly recognizes the files and can import the environment
layers.
No idea where this recognition went wrong in the first place.
Something for the FAQ perhaps?
Best,

Or maybe:
1. Open both songs
2. go to desired layer of environment in old song
3. select then copy all objects on that layer
4. Go to new song and open a new layer in its environment
5. Paste into this layer
6. Repeat as needed to transfer other environmental layers from the
old song to the new one.

I seem to remember that the .lso extension is from the ATARI version of the
program.
These environments have been around for a long long time. The song files do
in fact
only have environments in them, but it has been rightly pointed out that the
easiest
way to get them into your song is from the IMPORT function in the FILE menu.
Then
copy the environment objects from the downloaded and new (imported) song to
the
song file you want.
