Subject: [LAM] Tip for PB users to free up a USB port
Message #151219
Apologies if this is common knowledge... I've seen folks here talk about USB hubs because they need an extra USB port. Well, once Logic is started, you can pull the XSKey out and it will continue to run just fine. I do this to use a mouse and Oxygen8 with no hub. Hope that's helpful, u b i k

I can imagine how much understanding I would receive if in the middle of a recording, Logic says "auf wiedersehen" and I have to explain to the client "ah, well, a guy on the list said it was O.K. to pull the dongle out". Emagic makes it quite plain that the dongle is required to run Logic - BASTA! Mark Cahill

On my home system, if I remove the dongle, logic halts immediately, as expected. Once, I was demonstrating Logic to a class at the local university, on the computer in their studio, and I pulled out the dongle to show what would happen, and Logic ran fine, until I plugged the dongle back in, then it quit. That REALLY proved my point, yeah.

What if you load a plug-in that has to look to the key for authorization.

Subject: [OT] fitting new power supply
Message #155307
This is a reply to #151250.
<Admin - please reply privately, or to the OT group> I believe that Apple are offering to replace the power supply of any G5 seen to be making a noise through the soundcard, but can it be fitted easily at home ??? the place I bought my MAC from said it would have to go back to Apple, which is impossible as I have to work, and eat and pay bills etc Just wondered if there was an easy solution for once.????
