Subject: [OT] good monitorspeakers?
Message #151182
I'm thinking about buying Genelec 1030A active, powered monitorspeakers. Are there any people that have them? What are your experiences? And maybe people have tips on other speakers I should check-out. Thanks, Remco

Monitors are a very personal and subjective thing. You would do well by listening to a few and, if possible, even bringing a couple of pairs to your studio to try them out in your own space. For about $500-1000 more (I don't know what your budget is), I prefer the Dynaudio BM-15A or ADAM S2A's. I went through a shootout with a bunch of monitors 2 years ago and went with the ADAM S2A's. Great tweeters with a nice tight end. Even though the woofer seems a little small, they actually go down almost as low as the Dynaudio's. Again, I suggest that you try out a bunch in your price range and decide that way. HTH, Fernstudio

The Dynaudio's go a little lower but the bottom was a little bit flabby in comparison. I found the stereo imaging on the ADAMs unbelievable and they have a wide sweet spot. Very easy to listen to on the ears too. Fernstudio

Dynaudio BM6A'S and BM15A's are hard to beat, more realistic than the Genelec's in my opinion. The Genelec's have made things sound good that were actually not good tones from my experience.

I had a pair of Mackie HR824's and the Dynaudios blew them away. Much more accurate and linear at all frequencies. Ron...
