here is an excellent utility that one should use in conjuction with
disk utility.
it's called 'system optimizer 4.1' - http://www.mkd.cc/
basically, once a week you should run disk utility, then when thats
done and all seems fine on your drives, run sys optimizer and let it do
its thing. it takes maybe 10-20 minutes, but it actually keeps your
system running nice a fast. i haven't had any kernel panic issues
anymore, and the pre-binding of the apps loads a lot of my apps faster.
great application that should be required on all mac osx hd!
