I was thinking of buying the M-audio Firewire 410 for my laptop so I
can do
some recording on the road and wanted some feedback from anyone that
has one
, I already own 2 midiman products and am happy with them but they
are
installed in a PC and a Mac now I thought of upgrading my laptop ,so
I can use it on the road . I know I have read some bad revues about
the 410 are there any good ones before I buy it? thanks in advance...

Mojo Mike..
Still has some bugs to be worked out, OS 9 is a no go, OS X possibly.
Do a search of the group.
I've been using this card for Audio Instruments and have had nothing but
trouble free performance.None of the noise, pops , clicks etc that you get
with other cards.I haven't attempted any kind of complex audio recordings
though.

I've been using one for a couple of weeks now and it works very well.
My only complaints are:
1. No host power. You need to plug it into an AC line with an annoying
wall-wart power supply.
2. Inputs are misleading. You get two LINE/MIC inputs and two digital
inputs. Looking at the box, you might be confused into thinking that
the 4 inputs are analogue, but they're not. Either the front or rear
analog inputs are active at a given moment.
3. Noisy Neutrik connectors.
And that's about it. Performance-wise, I have no issues with this
device. My A62m won't even work on my G5 without popping and clicking
and it prompted me to try something different until my M-Audio Delta
cards get upgraded. If I didn't need more inputs (and less outputs),
I'd be tempted to keep it.
Give one a try!
