I have a Qs7 and just got Logic 4.x and have not had problems you describe.
Could it be in the MIDI interface? I'm using OMS (cause I have a Unity DS-1)
and a MOTU USB micro express and it took quite a while to get things
configured in
general. There's a QS7 driver in OMS ( as well as freeMIDI) and things run
well now that I've got the environment configured.
