Ok,
So you ARE actually trying to get 2 parts to play on the same audio object,
which you can't do!
If you want to record OVER the original part replacing it with a new one you
can select the orange X button on the transport bar which is supposed to
represent the erase head on a tape machine. However you'd be missing out on
the benefit of being able to choose from multiple takes.
Simply create a new track on the same audio channel and mute the original.
It gets to be a very quick process...honest!
