the track count depends on too many factors so nobody will be able to tell you. I compared the drives with "Timedrive", a OS 9 only utility and I realized that on my G4 15" book the internal drive read/writes at 26MB/sec, whereas the external LaCie Firewire drive is at 32 MB/sec both r/w. That is 20% faster... To my observation LaCie have the fastest drives, so beware of cheapo boxes. Hope this helps you a bit Jürgen
