Subject: Space Designer
Message #147366
I am wondering what is going on now that space designer has been released. I am seeing practically no comments whatsoever about it. I have been spending some time with it checking the basic sound and its various features and as far as I am concerned it is the best reverb unit I have ever heard anywhere. I find the IR modelled spaces totally convincing silky smooth and just generally kick ass. I cam across some really cool spaces some people have made IRs for that are just amazing as well. For example the inside of a garbage can, the inside of a djembe, the inside of a glass jar. All really fun and interesting. The filters are a lot of fun too. I find I can make completely new grooves out of canned beets just messing around with the decay shape of the resonance filter. I basically have never had this much fun with a reverb unit. Is nobody even checking this thing out or what?

It is available as an internal native plugin to logic and will be available as a TDM version in the EPIC plugin collection. I am not sure how the EPIC version is bundled or packaged though.

Maybe people are just working hard for extra hours to save enough money ASAP to buy this fancy thing (at least that's what I do) :-) . Best, Andy

I am seeing practically no comments whatsoever about it. I only began playing with it yesterday. I wanted to compare both SD and Altiverb side by side. Initially, I was a little bit underwhelmed. I imagine that it was the sound source that I used. I then used other sound sources with it and played around with the controls. I compared it side by side with Altiverb. I am quite impressed. While I still like Altiverb, I really love the way Space Designer sounds. The additional control over the sound gives it an advantage over Altiverb. My only wish would be that Emagic put up some more IR's on their website that we can download. This way we would be able to tell a bit better. I want to try loading in some other IR's which can be found on the net to compare them further. Fernstudio
