I've obviously downloaded LAP 6.3.1. and I think SD is a great module to
achieve
great reverbs, which I think overperforms many hardware digital units. In
fact, if you
have an Impule Response from a sampled, let's say, TC6000, theoretically it
can
sound like it. I am wrong?
I tried the altiverb demo, and what I can say is that this is much more
CPUintensive
than SD. That's many points to SD. But I have no experience in using
Altiverb so I
cannot compare the quality from it and SD.
Any experienced Altiverb user can comment about it?
Best Regards.

You are right unless the TC6000 is imparting some sort of realtime
modulation of one of it's internal parameters, like a chorus speed,
let's say. Then your impulse reading will capture that chorus speed
setting during the time it takes to play through your impulse.

I've used Altiverb for some time now. It's a little early to compare it
with Sound Designer because of it's limited demo library. Hard to say
until I hear more Sound Designer IRs. Altiverb has some beautiful
churches, and an incredibly useful EMT plate IR that Wendy Carlos
contributed. As well, I really appreciate the jpeg pictures that
Altiverb supplies of the place. Really great when you want to look at
mic placement for the IR. What Sound Designer did include that bright
hall was a good choice because you can darken it up with the filter.
Sound Designer has some real winner features over Altiverb so far:
CPU usage ( especially since you can downsample your IR response. For a
dark hall you really don't need to go about 24k (48khz sr)).
The filter and amp envelopes are very elegantly designed with nice
Bezier curves. 10 out of 10 on that one.
Easy to reverse a sound, or otherwise make fine tuned manipulations to
the IR. Altiverb only has a knob which scales down the time of the IR.
To date I'm really impressed with Sound Designer.

Sorry. In my last post it should be called Space Designer instead of
Sound Designer.

Never mind, 'Sound designer' brings back some nostalgic memories of
my first steps into digital recording ;)
