No, actually I think you can only repair permissions on the boot drive
(while booted on the boot drive ;-). I know for sure you don't have to
boot off a cd though (takes more than forever on a 12" powerbook).
And in reference to the new powerbooks they have double the size L2
cache (256k to 512k) that runs double the speed (same as processor
now), which evidently makes up for the lack of L3. kj.
