being that apple just released new updated powerbooks, people have been
disappointed that there is no L3 cache. was there EVER L3 cache on any
powerbooks at any time?

Yes. But the new Powerbooks have the G4 chip that makes it possible to
_really_ use DDR memory, meaning that memory is then 333 MHz fast.
Thats why the most benchtests show that the new Powerbooks perform at
least as good as the older ones with 3rd level cache.
Deos anyone have a new 15" Powerbook here? I'd be interested if the fan
noise is less or more than with previous models.

Getting the 1.25 GHz as soon as it arrives -- dealer estimates some 2
weeks before delivery. Not sure if I can say anything sensible about
the fan-noise though, as I don't know the previous models from own
experience. And I don't plan to use it with Logic (putting Logic
both on the laptop and the desktop would probably bring me trouble
with the wife :-). Stupid isn't it, running Logic on a G4/350 and
using a 1.25 GHz for a typewriter. Oh well... sigh...
