I have some songs made with LAP 5.x, I mean with Asio. Logic 6.x doesn't
co=
nvert it
automatically, so I have all plug ins not working (with a crossed line),
an=
d with no
sound, of course.
How can I do it manually?
Thanks.

As I recall, there can be a conversion issue if one version has
Universal Track mode enabled and the other doesn't. Go back to the
original version and check your audio prefs to see which mode is
enabled, Universal or not. Then open a blank file in 6.x, set the
audio prefs the same, and it should automatically convert when you open
the 5.x ASIO file in the 6.x program.

Yes, this is the work around. It took me several tries to figure it up.

This works in OS9 - should work in OSX too:
Just open the song, and go to the <Audio> menu, and select <Audio
configuration>
Look in the <Device> menu and you'll probably see that the current
device is selected (CoreAudio).
Select your OLD device from the menu (let's call it the original
device=ASIO in your case), and you'll see the setup with all plugins,
VSTi's etc.
In that same <Audio configuration> window, go to <Edit> menu and
select <copy>.
Now go back and select your CURRENT device in the <Device> menu.
Back to the <Edit> menu, and choose <paste>
The whole setup from the original device should have been copied to
your current device, including ALL plugins and even the selected
patches and parameters that were used in the original song.
Hope this makes sense....

This would be nice, but in practise it often doesn't work as expected.
A big problem is, that VST settings connot easily be converted to AU
settings, because the way they are saved is different.
It's almost impossible to transfer a complex mxi from OS 9 to OS X. The
better way is to stay on one platform...

Hello,
I frequently receive a voice over track with music and VO split on left
and right sides. In DP I would have a VO track in my template with a
trim plugin inserted that let me control left and right sides
independently (I could pan the left to the center and turn the right
down all the way). i know i could just split the interleaved track in
Logic and deal with it that way, but is there a plugin that will give
me this kind of control over stereo tracks? Maybe a 3rd party thing?
Thanks,
judson

When you click *and hold* the mono/stereo button of an audio object, you can
choose L or R which will then play only the left or right side of a stereo
file.

Oh? Click-hold? Hm, I'm trying it, but nothing happens. You do
mean the button left of the rec button don't you..?

Yup. You have to have Universal Track Mode enabled.
