A few more tests with my 15 inches Powerbook 867 on Logic OS9/OSX,
playing back a 16 audio tracks song at 48 khz :
OS9 CPU consumption : seems to be OK. No difference with the EMI 2/6,
at the same buffer settings (192)
OS9 disk activity : the EMI beats the FW 410 ! Although I used the
Powerbook's internal HD for the test, I could observe 20-25 % more disk
activity with the FW410
OSX CPU consumption : no visible difference
OSX disk activity : no visible difference
This leads me to two conclusions :
- OS9 driver is the worst of the 3 tested, Windows XP driver being the
best one
- Latency is the BIG issue on both OS9 and OSX. Unuseable for decent
software monitoring.
(OSX tests were made with Logic 6.3.1 under OSX 10.2.8)

FWIW, using a FW410 with my 1GHz/512MB PowerBook G4 running 10.2.8,
Live 3 @ 48k reports a total latency of 2ms with a 15-sample buffer.
Playback of the 8-track "DemoSession" song results in ~28% CPU
utilization.
