Subject: [LAM] Firewire drive shows filesizes TOO big!
Message #147217
I'm having a strange problem here with my firewire drive. Every file i copy to it shows up as 3.5MB (!!) in size. As a result, my 120 gig drive is getting full, and i've only loaded in a handful of sessions, as well as some cdroms. When i check the individual files via the 'get info' dialog box, they all default to 3.5MB, BUT, the (in parenthesis-k-) number appears to be correct. I'm running os 9.2.2 and os x.2.8 - on a 667 Tibook, and the behaviour is the same on both systems. And - come to think of it - it's the same when the drive is plugged into my QS-933 with 9.2.2 Also, when i copy a file (be it readme or audio) to the FW, it says it's 3.5MB, but when copied back to the internal HD, it 'shrinks' back to normal. I've rebuilt the desktop on the internal drive, as well as the firewire drive. Repaired permissions on the internal, run disk first aid, and speed disk on the firewire, but no luck. As an example, i have a akai pno cdrom, converted to exs, and the folder is almost 9 gigs! Any ideas?? Thanks Husky

Yep - HFS. Just realized it. I sent it out to be 'repaired' several weeks ago, and it must have come back that way.... Thanks Husky
