OK, now it's very clear : M-Audio Firewire 410 is not for Mac users.
After the Powerbook 867, I have just tested it on a pretty modest PC
configuration (P4 1,7 with 133 mhz motherboard, RAM 256 MB, Sound
Blaster Audigy for the Firewire interface) and the performances are WAY
BETTER than on the Mac.
At the very same settings (128 samples, 48 khz), the difference between
LAW 5.5.1 and LAM 6.2.1 is enormous. Had no time to measure the exact
latency (would estimate it to something like 4 ms) but you can monitor
a guitar with effects without frustration. Of course LAW's ASIO
implementation has never been very good, so I guess other PC audio apps
can even perform better with the Firewire 410.
This confirms that there is hope for big improvements on the Mac side.
But once again, LAM users : don't buy this product before it has better
drivers.

Hi Yann
Care to say what is the problem with LAW's ASIO implementation? Seems
fine to me, or am I missing something important?
Thanks, kind regards
