I'd definitely recommend it, its cheap, stable and is a truly professional solution. As well as having something that cost tens of thousands of dollars a few years ago for a thousand or so. And its expandable relatively inexpensively. You dont get the latest plugs but you do have a solid system. Get a samplecell TDM too - SC is very good internally routed via TDM into Logic. Best of all, you can still send/return to your Lexicons:-)>> I can still use the Mac AV tracks (all, erm, 4 of them on a 7100/66, right? <g>) with LAM if I really really really wanted to use VST plugins, right? Now _this_ is funky. Oh, and I _do_ love my Lex's (have 2 LXP-5's and an MPX100) ... though lately I don't lay them on quite so thick ... New TDM plugs only work on PCI hardware, I take it? Is there a large selection of TDM plugs that work on PT 3 / NuBus? Another Q: When does PT 3 hw 'expire' in the minds of digidesign i.e. PT 4 sw runs on it, will PT 5? If not, 'tis not a big deal ... this sounds like it may be the way to go, though I wonder if i'm in the Second Wave, fighting against the Third Wave host-based systems ... apologies to Alvin Toffler ... re-integrate the producer and consumer! :-) So, with the PT 3 hw solution, i'll get a _consistent_ 16 tracks, even on this lowly 7100? I've grown more minimal as times goes on, 16 is more than i've ever used i the past, even when I was more, er, maximal. I can also take it to live gigs and we can record ourselves playing live into it? Or record practices live, instead of only recording 2 tracks at a time? !?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
