Greets all...
I have a 3 hour show to mix in surround, and the media came to me as
aiff files in a ProStools session. I am wondering if anyone has had
any luck converting ProTools sessions to OMF and importing into LAPM
6.1 and/or LAPW 5.2. I have ProTools free but it won't open the
sessions as they are PT 6x format. I'm hoping Digitranslator can do
this as a stand alone app...
thanks in advance

The current version of DigiTranslator (2.x) only works as a
"module" inside of ProTools TDM (not LE). The old version
1.x of DigiTranslator is stand-alone, but it only does 16bit
files, not 24bits (and only 48KHz or 44.1KHz files).
Digidesign's forthcoming DV ToolKit enhances the functionality
of ProTools LE by adding DigiTranslator and other stuff. I don't
know exactly when this is shipping.
I've mostly had success importing OMF files into PT or Logic,
but sometimes not - and I can rarely put my finger on exactly
why ( they come to me exported from AVID or FinalCutPro or
whatever, and I have no idea what the video people did).
However, whenever I do the export to OMF myself, it has always
turned out to be fully compatible with PT or Logic. Probably
because I'm doing the export from either PT or Logic itself?
