Subject: [LAM] anyone using Tascam USB interface?
Message #145477
I have read on some other forums that some people using the US series interfaces (122, 224, 428) have serious problems (for instance, drop outs) when working in OSX. Anyone here using Logic with one of the Tascam interfaces? I'm trying to find out if the problems have more to do with Tascam's drivers or the sequencer used or some combination of both. If anyone can expound on this, I'd appreciate hearing about it. Thanks

Tascam essentially denied there was a problem for a good while. Then they threw up their hands and passed the problem back to Frontier, who designed the US series. I sent an email to Brian George at Frontier, who told me that a new driver was in beta, and looked good so far. He assured me that the problem had a high priority at Frontier, and they would release the new driver as soon as it was properly tested. I was impressed with how quickly he responded and how honest he was. Quite a contrast to Tascam, who even took down their forums from the web recently...some speculate because of the volume of complaints on this issue. I bought a US-224 for my home composing setup, and had to buy another audio interface (M-Audio Audiophile USB). I still use the 224 for controller functions only, but can't wait until I can use one box again. Fred Story Concentrix Music and Sound Design www.concentrixmusic.com
