This just in, fresh from UA's Sept newsletter:
"Logic Users: No More Need for the I/O Helper trick
Another exciting development with the release of 3.2 is a fix for the issue
Logic users experienced when snaps, crackles and pops appeared if tracks
were loaded with Powered Plug-Ins when under more than one “execution
context”. Logic users quickly became acquainted with the “I/O helper
workaround” which remedied the issue. But through recent collaborative
efforts between UA and Emagic, a fix has been added with the 6.1.1 release
of Logic, and the 3.2 release of the UAD-1 plug-ins, which permanently
remedies the issue. Plug away—with no workaround!"
Now UAD-1 users just have to wait for the release of the much anticipated
UAD 3.2 drivers... October???

Fingers crossed Ned, the same letter actually says "this month" so
hopefully
September. They are saying October for the OS X public Beta.
