Hi All,
As the original poster I want to thank all who responded. Between
responses to my inquiry and the Logic 5 introduction (manual, sort of).
I got the information I needed to do what I needed. The project is
moving ahead smoothly now.
In researching this I find that Logic's way of managing the audio
environment is to say the least,... funky. I was redoing an earlier
project that had some mono tracks and I was redoing it with stereo
samples and needed stereo tracks. The earlier project used about 20
tracks so as I started to add stereo channels I quickly ran out. I found
I couldn't delete the mono audio tracks and create a stereo track using
the same audio channel (e.g. track 8). Once I changed the preference to
48 tracks I could create audio objects and assign them to track 25 and
it would work perfectly. Because I was able to do what I wanted I
haven't checked whether deleting all audio from the audio window
associated with track 8 would allow me to recreate it as a stereo track.
It's a moot point at this point, because it's fixed and I'm back to
makin music!
