Subject: [LAM] Newbie - How do I set up Quicktime GM while I'm learning Logic Plat.6.1 ?
Message #140298
I am just learning Logic 6.1 - studying the manual. Unfortunately I have no way to play general midi files except through Quicktime. How do I get logic to see Quicktime in OS X ? In order to complete the processes in the getting started manual, I need to hear what I'm doing. I don't have any other synths ( I use Reason for my sounds and have not learned to use the trial soft synths included with my Plat 6.1 ! ) I'm not sure if the bundled demo synths include a general midi player. meanwhile - while trying to get a MIDI sound out of Logic - to learn enviroments, objects and etc - rewire2 and soft synths all at once is too much. - HELP ! Thanks for your help Os X Platinum 6

I had the same thing going on! I just wanted to complete the tutorial so I could get an idea what was going on. I was told that Logic is a different animal than Reason. It is. I was so used to just get up and go. But now it's another level. MIDI plays big in Reason. So what I did I went out and bought a new synth. A Roland. You don't have to. you could buy a sound module. But if you want to understand MIDI you have to play in MIDI. I am still learning. I have had Logic for about a month and I am just getting around it. You could just use the soft synths though. Programing drums is a whole new ball game as well. But this is a pro app so I guess I have to learn pro level sequencing. Reason was fun. This is just another level. I feel you bro! I almost threw out my computer several times!!!! peace
