This seems to be the way Logic works at this point. Logic apparently
doesn't have a pre-roll buffer.

If this is the case, it's a fairly substantial flaw - doesn't it means that
every time you play a sequence containing sample audio from the start, audio
content is being lost? Ok, so you can simply shift the whole sequence a bar
to the right, but what about people who are mixing down tracks without being
aware of this?
On a similar subject:
My audio samples seem to be reacting late to their hyperdraw data, e.g. if I
draw in a sudden reduction in volume, there will be an audible glitch where
Logic plays the initial data at the previous volume, and then reduces to the
correct volume. I have my "volume" hyperdraws set to "sample
accurate" in
my Audio Preferences, so something is not right.
