They seem to be saying (in both the first and second emails you quoted), you only have 90 days to claim your free v6 platinum upgrade from the day of the v6 announcement, so from Jan 16th -> April 16th... And only people who bought the full Platinum 5 version after January 16th (the day of the v6 Platinum announcement) can get the free upgrade. According to those emails, if someone bought the full Logic Platinum version 5 on January 15th 2003, Emagic would charge them for the v6 upgrade too. So since v6 for Logic "Silver" aka "Logic Audio" aka "Big Box" was announced on March 31st 2003, if you bought the v5 "Big Box" on March 30th or before you have to pay for the upgrade. It does seem a bit silly, since when v6 Platinum is announced of course they are going to come out with v6 Silver/Gold eventually...
