Hi Nathan, It sounds to me like you're a perfect candidate for Midi over LAN+. Here's a link for more information. I find the timing is better than typical midi. I do have one complaint in that it seems I need to reenable it every time I boot up. At $59 it's way cheaper than a midi interface (unless you also need network cards), but it gives you an additional 8 ports for midi. http://www.musiclab.com/products/rpl_info.htm The other good thing is that network cable (Cat 5) is much more reliable over longer distances than midi cables. If you're just networking two computers you don't even need an Ethernet switch, just a crossover cable (instead of standard ethernet cable). I lived with a crossover cable for a few months then wanted to add another computer to the network and that's when I needed the switch. What's cool is that you can also use the network for moving files from one system to another. Hope that helps, I'd never go back to midi cables if I could avoid it.
