And by poking around for 30 seconds, I found this additional tidbit: By *not* pressing the capslock, Command-Shift-4 converts the cursor into a crosshair tool. Whatever you draw a box around will then become the screenshot. Oh, and when you do press down capslock, the mouse turns into some weird donut tool; you still need to click on the window to get it to a screenshot.
