Subject: [LAM] Synchronizing a live recording to Logic's beats and bars
Message #136401
Hello everybody, I am a quite new Logic-user trying to find out the capabilities of the programme (platinum in OSX with mobile i/o, pismo 400mhz, 1GB RAM). My specific issue now is this: I use logic mostly for recording an acoustic band, 8 channels live straight to disc. The band does not play to a "click track", so the music is not synchronized to the bars in logic, and the tempo may vary within the song. I wonder if there is any easy way of making logic "understand" the rythm of the recorded music, or in other words to synchronize the recording to the beats and bars of logic. I.e. I want to be able to tell Logic that "here is beat no. 1, here is beat no. 2, beat no. 3 of bar no. 1 ..." and so on... The idea would be to be able to merge the file with various midi parts and to easily cut and move audioparts in the arrangement, and possibly use groove templates etc (which I don't know much about yet...). I am not sure if I managed to express the issue well, but I would appreciate it very much if somebody could give me a hint as to how I can solve this, or direct me to the right section of the manual if there is something about this issue in it. Thanks a lot in advance Bjorn
