Hello all. I have the following setup:
P4 1.4 Gigahertz processor
Yamaha DSP factory
2 x MOTU midi Timepiece AV (parallel)
768 Gb Ram
2 x 20Gb hard drive + 1 x 40 Gb drive
1 x AGP Matrox dual card + 1 x PCI Matrox dual card
Windows 98 - Win2k and Win XP (I have tried them all)
Logic 5.1 with various plugins
Basically when I network the MOTUs (to give more than 8 midi ports)it
affects the speed of midi input and playback as well as the audio.
With 5 or so midi tracks playing, if I try to record another it all
slows down so what I play doesn't come out right. At the same time if
I play back an audio track it is not in time (I record onto the PC
via the DSP factory).
The performance monitor bar peaks at about a third.
With just the one MOTU connected there are no speed issues
whatsoever. I have tried this setup under the 3 operating systems
listed above with the same problems resulting. I am aware of the
number of midi port limitations under 98 but I am using 10 max and
although I get the windows warning, I do not have the DLLs that make
the system hang.
I have emailed MOTU tech supp but no reply.
Any help appreciated.
