Hi LUG
First off let me say I love Logic 6. It has been very stable and has
many great new features. Freeze is fantastic, as is the new channel eq.
Here are some automation problems I have experienced new to Logic 6.0,
never seen in 5x. (A result of the new coding for automation quick
access, or the expanded control surface support perhaps?)
1. The last node of automation will move if the sequencer is stopped
and the fader is moved (LC or mouse). Is this a bug or a new feature?
(I think its a bug) This one really through me off.
2. Touch mode (LC) now often does not return properly to the previous
value.
3. The automatic creation of the initial event at the song start when
automation is first written is now sometimes not working, and has to be
created manually (big pain).
4. I had a instance of a fader not responding to automation, looking in
the event list I saw a pitch bend event at the top of the list, I have
never seen this before. I know the LC transmits pitch bend messages on
its faders, so its as if the process of converting the data from the LC
got disabled. I have this theory also because in Clint Ward's LP6 demo
last night, a parameter he was automating on a softsynth, with an LC
fader (flip), all of a sudden began controlling it's pitch bend
unexpectedly.
5. A couple of times automation was not chasing properly. Even with the
fader showing the correct position. (scary).
Other experiences....
Groups almost never select properly when "Arrange Selection edit"
is
selected in the group settings. There are always members of the group
that do not get selected, quite randomly.
It would be nice to have a preference to turn "smart snap" off and
have
the original behiaviour restored in the arrange window. (cutting by
musical value).
There should be an option to group solo in the group settings...
PS Clint Ward gave a great demo at <Saved by Technology> in Toronto
last night. Half of which was done without a video projector! (the bulb
died!). The whole crowd stayed anyway, as Clint, without missing a beat
gave an "Aural" tour of LP6 features.
