zerobeat@... (f-erenc szabo) "Without chemicals, he points" rants: > Here's another thing to consider: If 4.1 is coming out Dec 6th, > how does is seriously change your life if you knew 3 weeks > before this date or 2 weeks before this date about it? So every comment which is any way critical of Emagic now constitutes a 'whine' does it? You may think the sun shines out of their behinds and find no reason to ever question their behaviour, but I'm afraid my experiences of the last few months, in terms of their failure to deliver and adequately support a product without significant flaws causes me to feel otherwise. You're right, this is in no way an official Emagic list and any information posted by Emagic personel is a welcome bonus. However, for many of us, posting complaints or begging for information on this list is an absolute last resort made necessary by their own wholly inadequate support resources. The big issues which remain outstanding clearly can't be handled by their distributors at a local level (believe me, I've tried them out a thousand times), but emails to Germany are met with a totally unhelpful automated response, promising a personal reply which 9 times out of ten never materialises. Many of us have invested significant amounts of money over the years, which unfortunately renders periodically jumping platform financially invaiable (I wouldn't be here now if this weren't the case). It also, IMHO entitles us to the ocassionaly helpful piece of information on when significant outstanding, creativity limiting, functionality impairing issues are going to be sorted out. Sure they've got to remain competitive in an enormously hostile and fickle market. Sure you can always look at things form the manufacturers corporate point of view. To be honest though, I don't really care, because I'm a consumer, a customer, a client, and as such I look at things from an end users point of view. I expect to receive what I pay for, not to lose days of work trying to get it to work properly, to receive technical support in the manner in which it was promised, and to be kept informed of when outstanding issues are being addressed and when updates are due. It may have slipped your attention, but the 'whining' of myself and others appears to have resulted in an oficial announcement on the delivery date for 4.1. Without that information, those of us with less blind faith than yourself are obliged to question whether the problems we've been campaigning to get sorted out are even on the agenda. It's a shame it works that way, but I will now wait those extra few days in the hope that my CPU too slow problems, DirectX implementation problems, Pulsar compatibility problems have been addressed. If I had heard nothing, the incentive to investigate alternatives would have been greater. I'm sorry if I sound exasperrated, but recent sentiment on this list seems to suggest Logic Audio in it's latest carnation works perfectly, and that anybody suggesting otherwise is 'whining'. This simply is not true. It doesn't. Major problems are still affecting the way many of us work every day, inhibiting productivity and undermining what ought to be a great piece of software. So if these problems persist, then I'm sorry if you don't like it, but I and others will continue to push Emagic on this list (it's the only contact we ever have with them) to sort the problems out, and keep us informed of how they're getting on. If your setup works perfectly and the 'whining' upsets you then all I can suggest is that you probably have less reason to take an interest in the sentiments on this list, and I would politely request that you allow those of us less fortunate than yourself to continue to campaign as best we can. Jules Bromley (in desperate need of chemicals) >>This is a user list. Emagic staff post here as a complete bonus - it's not mandatory, but we thank them for it when they do and appreciate it very much. If a Mac developer happens to post more often than a Windows developer, then we have no basis to complain about this. )
