so i sat down to do some work yesterday and when i launched logic i
got a dialog box that says "You haven't used Logic in some time. Is
today's date really Sunday March 30, 2003?" ... the answer was no, it
was Saturday March 29. I clicked "no" and the program quit and
told
me to check my date and time. My date and time were correct, and no
amount of rebooting/removing/reinserting the xskey or booting between
os9 and osx would change the key's mind. Finally after midnight i
re-inserted the key and since by then it actually WAS March 30, i
clicked "yes"...
I'm more than a little worried though since I still haven't received
my codes from emagic. I'm going to call tech support tomorrow but I
figured I'd hit the list up and see if anybody else has seen anything
similar.
If they have to replace my XSKey, this will be my FOURTH key from them.
Lovely.

I have just received Logic Gold 5.5
I had ordered logic Gold 6 from the German dealer
www.musicians-gear.com: they sent me Logic 5 and said that I will be
able to upgrade for free to Logic Gold 6 when it's available.
Is this true?
I haven't found anything about this on the emagic website.
Thanks for the help
Federico Ciapi
I got the same message last night!!!!!!! and I couldnt get in logic
unless i just said yes to the time being correct question. Even
though the menu said that Logic says it is 3/31/03 when it was really
suppose to be 3/30/03.

Are you guys in Europe? Did Europe change from daylight savings time
over the weekend? Check these settings -- and your time zone setting -
- whether or not you are in Europe.

I have mailed them many times - unfortunately, I have never received a
reply to any question.

I'm in the USA, and it was off by well over an hour. Daylight
savings time doesn't switch over for a few more weeks here. I double
and triple checked all date/time info as well as re-synced to the
apple time server (which my computer does automatically on a daily
basis) so i'm almost positive it was not a misconfiguration on my
computer.

It did in Europe this weekend. Maybe it's programmed in the dongle????

I am in the US as well. I just hope the next time I boot up
Logic(which is tonite), that everything is ok. Because even though
the logic date was wrong I still said "yes" just so I can proceed.

I would think that if they've made that assurance to you then they're
under an obligation to deliver on that...

I've only written to the support address a few times, but I got a
response each time, though sometimes it took them a while to reply..
That's weird you never received one. Did you write to support@...
or your local Emagic distributor?
When I have written to them, they have been very picky about only
letting me contact them from the email address I registered Logic to
when I first bought it. I emailed them from my work email address
once only to have my message returned several days later saying they
couldn't find me in their customer database. Just to be safe you
could always include your XSKey serial number in your email so they
can make sure you are a paying user.

I doubt it but check your date and time control panel and make sure
that your time zone, time and daylight savings time settings are all
correct. If you use Windoze I have no idea how to help but... it
should be easy.

I have written (in different times) to info@...,
support@... and even to my local distributor.
Only the last one has replied (only once, but I have written them a few
times)

And if you're not a registered user but you'd like to know some details
before buying Logic?

I spoke to an Emagic person who told me that if you purchased Logic within
90 days of the new release then you qualify for a free upgrade to 6.
I don't expect them to start shipping until the very end of April and it'll
probably be a couple of weeks after that before we all start receiving the
updates in the mail.
I do wish that they had a special password/authorization system that would
allow us to simply download it from their server.
I wonder if the upgrade will also include an OS X version of EXSP and EPV73?

Here's a tip...call them! Emagic seems to be really bad about replying to
e-mail....according to their tech they only have a guy doing all the support
e-mail....but if you call them you will most likely get some useful info.
Now....if they could only get a toll-free number!

The support@... address is mostly just for tech support for
existing users as far as I know. I think info@... was the right
address to write to. Sorry they didn't write back previously but at
least it appears they are getting better. If you don't hear back
within a few weeks you could always forward your previous email to
them and say "it's been two weeks, I'm still waiting for a response,
thanks..."
I have never had a need to call Emagic yet but as someone else
suggested that's often the fastest way to get a response from them.
Their distributors page (
http://www.emagic.de/company/distributors/index.php?lang=EN ) says in
Italy Digimedia distributes Emagic software... Tel.: +39 248702843
You could always ask them why they didn't respond to your previous
emails (that you sent to them directly).
Good luck

It is a bit strange we have to wait that long. After all we all got an
XSkey. Wouldn't it be very simple and "pirate"-safe to make a
download available and provide those eligible with the new xskey-number. The
5.5 version is downloadable and works straight away with the XSKey, so I
don't see why v.6 should be any different.

Hi... Emagic USA has an incredible phone tech support at
530.477.1050 and the sales (upgrades etc...) dept is 530.477.1051.
You can also contact the customer service guy at
dsmith@... You do have to be a registered user to access
these services.

Thanks.
I've just emailed him.
I hope to receive a reply soon from Emagic.
The midi clock bug really limits my possibilities in the studio.
