Hey Terry,
Go to the EXS24 window and at the top right corner of the window is
"options". Click on that and in there should be an "giga
convert". I
haven't done a giga convert myself yet but I think it's reasonably
straight forward after that. I believe that you have to have the giga
stuff in the right file in the main Logic audio window. I'm not much
help after that but to answer you question, yes, it does accept giga.

Yes, EXS24 will import Giga files, generally well and surprisingly fast. It
won't import .art updates, however, and complex switching, crossfading,
etc. in the Giga programs that are beyond EXS24's capabilities make some
programs problematic.

Yes. Put the gigs files in a folder, put the folder in your sampler
instrument folder, launch Logic, open exs, and load file. Logic will
convert the file to exs format.

Yes, the EXS24 converts Giga instruments to EXS very nicely. I just got
the Sam (French) Horns for Giga, converted them with the EXS conversion
dropdown menu, and they work great.

Check it out. This looks awsome! I believe it supports audio units too.

I know firewire is fast, but what about latency? If you suffer from
latency with the card inside the box, what will it be like on the end of
a firewire connection?

The latency has to do with processing time, not with any
physical distance the signal has to travel to.
For example, the "latency" on a 50m microphone cable
is virtually unmeasurable.
