I use the 1224 with LAMP 4.0.2. It works as advertised -- clean.
(But the chassis has an audible buzz you can hear when
standing near it, which is not transmitted into the signal path.)
I have a Mac 266MHz with Adaptec 2940U2W/Mac card and
Cheetah drive. Sample buffer size of less than 256 causes
clicks and pops. I believe there is a bug in Logic which causes
the audio to stop working after running with the ASIO driver
for more than 8 hours, because toward the end of a long day
I've had two occasions where digital audio just stops working
although the MIDI continues to work. Quitting and restarting
Logic fixes it.
I really like the column of LEDs for each channel.
One thing I've noticed is that it hits red (-1dB) more than 1 dB
before the meters in Logic hit red. I don't know why that
would be.

Dear Doug,
I have a very similar setup to yours...
2 Cheetah 9 GB drives, adaptec 2940U2W, MOTU 2408, 250mhz Power Computing
clone
Logic 4.02
I've been trying to get as many tracks as possible to record at the same
time (hopefully 24 someday)
the most I've gotten is 16. I think I should be able to get more. One
thing I've found is that setting the disk cache in the memory control
panel to 128 (instead of the default 81056 or so) really helps. I don't
know what that actually does, but on my system it's the difference
between being able to record 8 tracks simultaneously and 16...
people have suggested limiting the throughput on the adaptec card by
narrowing the bandwidth of the ports to like 10mhz in the power domain
control panel. others say setting the video cache in the same control
panel to "cache line" helps. I don't think any of that helps.
Maybe I
have some wierd extensions on.
Any suggestions on how to get more out of this system are much appreciated
