Condensation.

I think (hope) the original poster was not suggesting that the fridge be
switched on.

Ah... <slaps forehead> Yes... thanks for putting my brain in gear
again... Pity, as it would have been... uhm... a 'cool' idea...

No, that was my idea. Hey, sometimes I _do_ have an original thought... :-))

Don't give up so easily there dood. Condensation happens on what we
technicians "cold things". CPUs are what we technicians call
"hot
things". After all that's why we talk about cooling them in the
first place. Now it is true that some parts of the fridge might be
prone to condensation a little thoughtful organization of the
elements could easily keep the condensation off of the sensitive
parts the designers of refrigerators and refrigeration units have
after all been refining that stuff for about 100 years now and have
gotten pretty good at it. Can be done you just have to realize that
it must be done.

For the original poster's sake, I hope he was indeed
suggesting that the fridge be switched on. How else
is it going to serve the purpose of keeping things
cool?
Stick your computer and hard drive(s) in a non-working
fridge and they'd go into thermal shutdown after an
hour or so.
