Evan -
I'm having horrible problems with 5.5 and the new MOTU PCI 324 driver
using the 308 and 2408 interfaces.
Like you, Logic won't boot half the time, when it does boot it comes up
at 44.1K sampling rate when the
PCI324 Console and my word clock are set to 48K. When I change the
sample rate in Logic, most of the time it crashes. In the few
instances when it stayed on, there were very noticable timing problems
between
audio and midi. Emagic is testing it over the weekend and will
hopefully get back to me next week, but for
the moment, for me, Logic and OS 10 (10.2.4) are a total bust. When I
boot Logic with the Apple audio driver, it works fine. I've also
noticed that when I set the PCI 324 to be my system audio device,
Quicktime and iTunes have nasty noisy artifacts. I think this release
of the PCI 324 driver is a no go. Anyone else having problems with
this system?

You should change the subject line of your post to "MOTU Drivers
Suck" or something like that. As far as I can gather from your
message, Logic 6 is not at fault with regards to your booting /
timing problems. (MOTU hardware and drivers are notorious for not
working as well with non-MOTU app's as they do with MOTU's own
programs.) Anyway, the initial impression I got when perusing your
post is that Logic 6 is somehow buggy. That's really not fair to
the programmers at Emagic when MOTU is at fault in this case.

I have no boot problem with Logic 5.5 OS X and my Motu system (2048 MKII +
24i + 1296) (54 ins 10 outs)
I have heard discussions a month ago about clock problems in the Core audio.
I have set mine to "Internal 324" and 44.1 ; it is working ;o)))
not a
single crash in 6 hours of mixing
If I set it to 1296 internal my other Motu interfaces won't sync
Did you manage to re-direct the OS X Sound Manager to a specific output ?
Can you send a mail to Motu to report those problems. Can you also say to
them that they forbidden the "wanadoo.fr" host, it is the site of
the French
France Telecom we are millions of users
