Hi all,
I've just finished a "thinking" around orchestral music and
samplers/Logic/exs24 etc...
my english is not SO good, if someone want to have a look at it , can
be better !!

I will send the file in the FILE SECTION of Logic and EXS24 user

I have been having a weird problem with my logic control. Every time I slide
the master fader up the fader slides back down. Sometimes it doesn¹t
happen
right away but usually within 10 seconds. If I try to raise the fader by
clicking on it from within logic¹s environment it drops right away to
0.
Anyone ever have this problem?

Do you have a Master Volume object in the Environment?

Does the problem occur with all songs, or only certain ones?

Are you sure you do not have a midi track that is controlling your master
fader !

All songs. I even started with a default autoload. and get the same
thing. Also when the fader drops there in no activity on my MTPAV USB.
The fader goes down without any MIDI signal. I believe something within
the logic control is telling it to drop the fader. Wierd huh.

No I'm sure. What is happening is similar to if your logic control was
on but logic was not launched. All the faders would be down by default.
If you slide any fader up it automatically drops back down. The
problem is that is what is happening to me when logic IS launched. But
only on the master fader.

Are you sure you have a master fader present? It is *not* one of the main
soundcard output faders ( o/p's 1/2 3/4 5/6 7/8). I made the same
mistake with my Gina card. I thought that the LC master fader was supposed
to control the Gina 1/2 outs fader. When I added the master fader object
to the environment the LC master fader then worked as it should.

Here's a thought. Insert a monitor between your sequencer out and the
port assigned to the Logic control. See if any interesting messages
go out just before the fader drops.

Although I'm not sure if this might help, please
* rebuild defaults
* rewrite the firmware. Open the Control Surfaces Setup window,
select the LC and click the "Write Firmware" button.
If this does not help, please contact your Emagic distributor.

Ok I've done some tests and here are the results: If the logic control
is off and LAMP is launched everything is fine. The master fader
doesn't move unexpectedly. If the logic control is on when LAMP is
launched the master fader in the environment keeps dropping to 0 and
the slider goes down. I deleted my midi setup in OSX and reinstalled.
That did not help. I installed LAMP6 and with the default autoload the
problem still happened. I reloaded the firmware on the logic control. I
even reset my MTPAV USB to factory defaults. No luck. No matter what I
try nothing works. I think my logic control may be defective. The thing
is, that this problem did not start happening until a few days after I
go it. For a few days in the beginning everything was fine. Michael
Hayden, tell me doctor what is your prognosis. I don't know what else
to do.

When the fader goes to zero, can you see any MIDI out activity at the MTP?
If yes, the problem is within Logic.
If no, it seems to be a firmware problem.

Try to start logic with a complete blank auto load only with a connection
with your LC. All other midi connections have to be gone. (also connections
with hardware cards ) If there is a problem, then it is your LC or, what I
had in the past with my yamaha promix, there was something wrong with my
computer keyboard and my master fader always dropped down.... . Other
possibility is, to find another computer, install logic, connect the LC and
try again. If the same problem is there again, go back with your LC to
change or fix that hardware problem.
By the way , I love my LC. it's doing the job very intuitively, thanks to
emagic..

Thanks for your reply. I hope I did not confuse you when I said 0. I did not
mean 0db I meant off (all the way down). Sometime the fader drops and there
is activity other times it drops and there is no activity. I disconnected
the USB of the MTP from the computer and I still have the same problem. I
Just spoke to support and they advised me to trash my logic control
preferences. I will try that and let you know what happens.
...Alex
> there was something wrong with my

After speaking to support and with the help of you guys out there I was able
to solve the fader problem. It turns out that it was a USB issue. My MTPAV
USB was plugged into a USB hub along with a mouse, USB cdrom, scanner,
printer, logic key, and a keyboard. Once I started removing devices from the
hub the fader drops started happening less often. Finally now I have the
MTPAV plugged directly into the computer and all is fine. I may need to
update the MTP ROM. Right now I'm at 2.0.0. I think the new version is
2.0.1. Is there anyone with the same setup not having problems with a hub.
Please let me know.
Thanks to everyone for their help, Alex
