If there is no object on the track yet, then what is there to solo???
If you mean that you want to hit "play" in Logic and not hear
anything other than what you are playing on the selected midi track in real
time (basically muting everything except your currently selected track); you
could try activating the solo button in the transport bar with no sequences
sleceted. That way when you hit play you won't hear anything (happens to me
by accident all the time) but can still play on your currently selected midi
track.

You could also in the arrange page do the following (pretty quick):
- Select All (on PC / Mac ... Ctrl+A / CMD+A)
- Press "m"
The 'm' key is usually set to Muting Sequences in the Key commands...
